Easter 2008
At the time of writing this letter we are spending a few days in
our caravan at a friend's farm in Herefordshire. There was ice on
the windows and the car was white over this morning. Nevertheless
we are warm and cosy as we have the heater full on in the van.
Just an hour later and the sun is now
shining. Soon the frost will all be gone. Frost and ice -
all part of God's creation.
Two little Robins and a pair of Blue Tits
have come and are sitting on the fence. Easter - a wonderful time
of the year when all around we see new life. Yesterday we went for
a walk and saw hosts of snowdrops, wild daffodils and celandines.
While it is so cold outside we are reminded
of the warmth of God's love to us. God's concern for sinful man
resulted in Jesus coming to earth to live among men, to share in the
sorrows and joys and experience the human needs we have.
Jesus' ministry was to bring life with a
capital 'L', healing, understanding, truth and everlasting joy to a word
lost in sin.
Forgiveness was the main aim of Jesus' life.
This is why He came into the world.
Easter is when we remember the crucifixion
and resurrection of Christ. He rose from the grave victorious -
triumphant over death.
At this time of the year when many will be
receiving Easter eggs and breaking them open to enjoy the chocolate may
we remember the broken body of Christ - broken for us as He submitted
himself to His Father's will. Jesus prayed "Father, if you are
willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will but yours be done" (St
Luke chapter 22, verce 42).
We wish every blessing to you all this
Easter.
Hallelujah - Christ is Risen.
